St. Francis Academy 

New Cafeteria Building + Teaching Kitchen

Construction Documents were just completed for a new 6,545-square-foot cafeteria building serving as a hub for dining, performance, and culinary learning. The concrete masonry structure with stucco cladding complements the existing campus architecture. The flexible space accommodates up to 200 students for dining or assembly and includes a stage, dressing rooms, code-compliant restrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen supporting daily food service and a culinary arts program. 3D renderings supported a fundraising campaign. Construction is anticipated to begin Summer 2026.
 

Micanopy Area Cooperative School (MACS)

New Cafetorium

The Micanopy Area Cooperative School required a new cafetorium for the students. This education building was designed to fit the needs of the current Pre-Kindergarten through 5th Grade year students. Its design included an entrance porch around the perimeter, a large indoor space for eating and assembly, and akitchen for staff with respective new appliances. The large central room also becomes an assembly space for students and staff. The assembly space offers an ADA accessible ramp up to a stage that can be used for lessons, performances and more. The project included programming, space planning, and strict budgetary constraints.

Sidney Lanier Hurricane Hardening

Buildings 11 and 12 required new treatments of exterior fenestration to resist wind borne debris, including the connection walkway. Hurricane Screens were added to existing windows and mechanical openings. Several entrance doors were replaced with a hurricane-resistant assembly. Other doors were replaced with hurricane-resistant metal door assemblies. The building's structural load paths were assessed to ensure they met the requirements of ARC 4496 Standards for Hurricane Shelter Selection. A manual transfer switch was installed to allow the buildings to be connected to a generator.

Eastside High School Gym Re-roof + HVAC Replacement

This project included the replacement of existing gym rooftop and HVAC units. The existing roof structure’s capacity was assessed to determine support requirements and wind loads. Existing exhaust fans were replaced to ensure operational status and to maintain current Code airflow levels. This included replacing the associated gas piping design and electrical power modifications as required. Two levels of existing roof decks were torn off and a temporary roof was installed. The replacement roof was assembled of a new lightweight insulating concrete with a fastened base sheet and two plies SBS modified bitumen roofing. ​​

Eastside High School Auditorium Renovation

​The 9,320 square foot Eastside High School Auditorium required various renovated components, including lighting and sound systems. The renovated space included the stage, occupant seating, and an audio control station. The design included some demolition and re-design of the interior concerning previous theater lighting, house lighting and power, lobby lighting, audio systems, minor paint work, and a control desk.

Buchholz High School Auditorium Renovation

This public high school required new house lighting, new theatrical lighting and new sound systems in their auditorium. The lighting controls were upgraded, and the rigging was replaced for the theatrical lights to improve the angle of lighting to the stage. New dimmable LED strip lights on the aisles were added and house lights were replaced. Access control features were added to the rear sound board and lighting controls. Improvements were made to acoustical quality by adding acoustical absorbing wall panels to control reverberation.

Santa Fe High School Auditorium Renovation

Santa Fe High School required renovations to their auditorium that totals 700 seats. BHA replaced old items, such as two air handlers, four condenser units, and the preexisting roof. Bathrooms were updated towards fixture counts and dimensional clearances as well. New paint and flooring gave the auditorium a refreshed look, along with new acoustical panels to assist in sound reverberation and absorption inside. In terms of code requirements, handrails for stairs, as well as wheelchair accessibility, sprinklers, and smoke vents were added to the auditorium.

Gainesville High School Auditorium Renovation

The design included adding a ramp to the existing stage exits to provide code-compliant egress, which required changes to the sidewalk and curb along the bus loop. The interior scope included removing the existing balcony booth and relocating the sound control location to be ADA accessible on the ground floor. Acoustic treatments were added to the auditorium and lobby to improve sound quality for assemblies and reduce noise leakage. The carpet and water coolers were replaced. Lighting and finishes in the lobby were upgraded. New LED theatrical lighting systems and A/V systems replaced the existing systems.

Eastside High School Locker Room Renovation

This renovation included new fixtures, new finishes and new LED lighting in the high school’s men and women’s locker rooms. Plumbing fixtures were replaced, shower towers were replaced with ADA complaint shower stalls, and new flooring was patched into these areas. New mini split AC units were added to increase air flow in the Coach’s offices which were originally designated as equipment storage. Water coolers in all offices and locker areas were replaced.

Hawthorne Middle/High School Security Upgrades

This project established a single, monitored entry point for the school. Access control was added to the front door, and several side doors. Signage was added to direct visitors to the front entrance. The Resource Officer’s office space was relocated to a different room in the entrance hall. A new sally port was added along with a new reception counter and casework with storefront glazing for credentialling visitors.

Buchholz High School Security Upgrades

The purpose of this project was to enhance security at the main entrance of the school. The existing storefront entry was replaced with a solid CMU wall and two hollow metal doors. Access controlled electronic locks and specialty hardware were installed at selected doors. Other renovations included those necessary to change a classroom to an office and an office to a classroom. Minor changes were required to the attendance office including adding an exterior door.​

Loften High School Security Upgrades

This project established a single, monitored entry point for the school. The existing reception area was reconfigured to create a dedicated office for the school resource officer and a secure entry vestibule. Additional space from the media center was repurposed to form a sally port that includes a new attendance station and an access-controlled door into the main campus. Book shelving and the circulation desk were relocated, and the workroom was reorganized to accommodate a new, more efficient entrance to the media center.

Camp Crystal Master Planning

The proposed master plan included 9 phases for infrastructure upgrades, renovations, new buildings, modular buildings, building expansions, and repairs on a 140 acre site. Facility uses included residential cabins, an industrial kitchen, dining area, and multi-purpose buildings. Site improvements included leveling a soccer field, bus loop renovation, and the addition of shade structures. The written report consisted of an existing conditions assessment, a comprehensive detailed strategy to guide future developments, and cost estimates.
